The Widetrack Chronicles 43: Zach's first gig: One year later

The Widetrack Chronicles 43: Zach's first gig: One year later

Wow, it's sure been a busy couple of months here! A quick recap of recent events...

-The new album is finished and will be released on Friday, May 18th!
So excited for you to hear it! Info on the pre-order coming very soon...

-We've already gotten a couple really good reviews on it...
Here and here

-For the first time, here is the CD cover...
In other news, we have just hit the one-year anniversary of Zach's first-ever gig!

As you may or may not already know, he made his onstage debut on March 24, 2017 (his proud dad's birthday!)... We played a house concert for a dozen or so close friends at the home of our guitarist, Brian Burleson...

He did a fantastic job for his first time before a live audience! :)

That being said, I'd like to take a minute or two to talk about the progress he's made in the year since...

OK, so... following the house concert, Zach began recording his bass parts for Widetrack III...

As he was constantly improving over the ensuing weeks, we re-recorded his parts 2-3 times before ending up with the versions on the album... He kept saying, "I can do those better now... let me redo them!" (LOL)

In the meantime, I began taking him to play shows with my cover band, The Vintage...

Before long, he had played a dozen or so gigs, feeling more and more at home onstage...

Fast-forward to today, let me just say that he's killing it... His skills on the guitar have already surpassed mine (seriously)...

At the risk of sounding like the biased proud parent, he is leaps and bounds ahead of where he should be after only playing for a couple years...

It seems like the rest of us will have some good motivation to continue pushing ourselves...

And as if all that wasn't enough, he and I have also been exploring writing together, and have already put together the music for 8 new songs... The pleasant surprise of this is, we've discovered that we have a writing chemistry that works really well (but more on all that to come)...

Anyway, I just wanted to share that, as we approach the release date of our new album, after which we will be getting out to play shows everywhere possible, I couldn't be more excited about the future of Widetrack...

So many exciting things on the horizon... We are in the process of rehearsing our live show right now, and already things are flowing so well...

11 years since the release of the debut Widetrack album, and we couldn't be more excited about what the future holds...

Thanks so much for your support! Just a reminder that we'd love to play for you, so if you have a place near you in mind, drop me a message and we'll see if we can add you to our touring schedule!

And once again: keep an eye on your inbox for the pre-order info, coming very soon!

Talk with you soon!
